Who we belong to
What is the Baptist Union?
As a Baptist church, we are part of a wider family of churches known as the Baptist Union of Great Britain (BUGB).

The Baptist Union is a network of over 2,000 local churches across the UK, joined together by our shared faith, values, and mission. While each Baptist church remains independent and self-governing, we work in partnership with the Baptist Union to support one another, grow in faith, and engage in mission both locally and globally.
Key principles
What shapes us
As a church affiliated with the Baptist Union, we uphold several core principles that shape our identity and community life.
Believers' baptism
We believe that baptism is for those who profess personal faith in Jesus Christ. It is typically done by full immersion as a public declaration of that faith.Church membership
Our members are believers who have made a commitment to Christ and to the life and mission of the local church. We make decisions together, prayerfully seeking God's will.Local church autonomy
Each Baptist church is independent and responsible for its own leadership and direction. However, we choose to associate with the Baptist Union for mutual encouragement, accountability, and shared mission.Shared leadership
While we recognise the role of ministers and leaders, leadership in a Baptist church is shared among the congregation. We value the voice and gifting of every member.Mission and justice
As part of the Baptist Union, we are committed to sharing the good news of Jesus and working for justice, peace, and care for all creation.
Why we're part of it
Being part of the Baptist Union allows us to be connected to a wider movement of churches. It provides us with support in areas such as pastoral care, safeguarding, ministerial accreditation, training, and mission initiatives - both in the UK and around the world.
We value this partnership and the opportunities it gives us to join with others in serving God's Kingdom.
