Teaching

The word, for everyone

Here at Four Oaks Baptist Church, our desire is to teach scripture in a way that all can understand, relate to and learn from.

It is our aim to show that something written thousands of years ago can still serve as a transformative force in our lives, offering hope and guidance on how to live as citizens of heaven here on earth. We believe scripture to be the inspired word of God, and our Sunday services are centred around teaching the Bible with the aim to equip individuals to build a relationship with God, apply God's principles to their lives, achieve spiritual growth, and serve others effectively.

The heart of worship

Come as you are

On Sundays we aim to gather at the centre of our community to openly worship and glorify God. Our sung worship is space to come into God's presence and sing praise - to declare our love for our creator.

We believe worship to be a reflection of our weekly living, a lifestyle of love for God, reflected corporately together on a Sunday, and it should be accessible to all, however far along you are in your journey of faith.

All are invited to worship with us, from the joyful to the broken-hearted, and we aim to offer variety in the songs that are sung and in the style of music played; to give freedom to all to encounter the Holy Spirit and respond in their own personal way.

Baptism

There is no service like it

We are a Baptist church, and participate in full immersion adult baptisms as part of our church life.

In Mark 16, as Jesus is about to leave to go to heaven, He sends out his disciples into the world telling them to preach to all the world. And what was the qualifier for being a Christian? To believe and be baptised. Today in the 21st century, those are still the qualifiers. Those who turn to Jesus and accept His message and follow Him are then baptised.

In our church there is no service like a baptism service - as we hear the story of the individual who has heard Jesus' message, and has chosen to give their life to Him, standing in the midst of both family and friends, they are then baptised into the family of God.

Closer

Our evening service consists of a longer time of sung worship - a chance for us to soak in the presence of God and space to encounter the Holy Spirit. The worship style alternates between a full worship band and a more stripped-back set of instruments on a monthly basis, giving variety in the music and time of praise and worship, to allow all to connect with God in their own way.

Sermon series

Catch up on our services and listen to our most recent sermon series on our YouTube channel. We have been making our way through the Gospel of Luke, interspersed with mini-series that have touched on topics such as the Temple, the Christmas and Easter stories, and 'Exiled'.

Through the Psalms

On Sunday evenings we open the book of Psalms and explore one of the chapters; diving into God's word and how we can use these books to encourage and learn from in our own journeys of faith.

The Family Table

All age worship and communion

A monthly service for families to worship together. The service includes all-age worship, communion, a shorter talk and opportunities for younger members to be involved in different parts of the service. We're creating space for everyone to take part, while keeping things accessible and meaningful for all ages.

Whether you come on your own or as part of a family, this will be a warm, relaxed and inclusive service, with resources available for those who may find it helpful.

There is no 9AM service on 1st Sundays.
